Controversy

Hemendra Mehta was named in the suicide note of a resident of Malad. Mr. Dharmesh Jariwala lived with his mother and sister at Giriraj Society in Borivali where he lodged a complaint against the chairman of the society, N B Gohil, who he claims sexually abused Jariwala's sister Gayatri, a TV actress. Following his complaint, he started receiving threats over the phone and was stabbed. He approached local MLA Hemendra Mehta for help, but he alleges that Hemendra Mehta also demanded sexual favours from Gayatri and that the threats continued even after his family moved to Malad.

Hemendra Mehta denied the claim and claimed that he wanted to help Jariwala resolve his issues.
